Underwater Activities
Discover the secrets and unlock the treasures of the extraordinary underwater world of the Indian Ocean. Imagine a world where vibrant corals sway and exotic marine creatures glide by gracefully in azure waters, with shipwrecks in the background. Choose to embark on this exploration by walking on the ocean’s floor or with the seabob and feel like a dolphin or by riding your own underwater subscooter or scuba diving or diving onboard a real submarine. Whatever floats your boat!
Pick up/ drop off: Hotel transfers to and from the meeting points are not included, but can be organised with an extra charge.
Undersea Walk
Timings: According to availability
Duration: 2 hours in total with 20 mins underwater
Meeting point: Grand Baie (North)
Description: Explore the Mauritian marine life by walking on the ocean floor at 3 metres deep and wearing a helmet. It does not require any swimming or diving skills. Your Undersea Walk adventure will begin with a boat ride of 15 to 20 minutes, in the lagoon of Grand Baie, towards the designated platform at sea. Our experienced and qualified monitors will brief you on the gear, the local marine life, safety procedures and the underwater walking trail. Before going off board, you will be equipped with soft undersea shoes and the helmet equipment weighing approximately 45 kg, which once you are submerged underwater magically becomes weightless. The helmet supplies a constant flow of air allowing you to breathe freely. Admire corals and feed the fish by hand, dance and jump and have a great time underwater. The whole activity will last for an hour and a half, with approximately 20 minutes of underwater walk.
Seabob
Timings: According to availability
Duration: 2 hours in total with 30 mins or 40 mins underwater
Meeting point: Grand Baie (North)
Description: Imagine manoeuvring through the ocean with the agility of a dolphin, both at the surface and at depth. You can now do that with the seabob, an environmentally-friendly watercraft. Your seabob adventure will begin with a boat ride of 15 to 20 minutes, in the lagoon of Grand Baie, towards the designated activity area. A safety cut-off feature reliably ensures that the selected diving depth of 2.5 metres is not exceeded, by rising to the surface within seconds. The Seabob can tow at impressive speeds of up to 14 mph on the surface and up to 12 mph underwater. Participants as young as 10 years old can enjoy this exciting and thrilling adventure.
Subscooter
Timings: Hourly dives from 08:30 to 16:30
Duration: 2 hours in total with 40 mins underwater
Meeting point: Mont Choisy (North)
Description: The subscooter is a unique one-of-a-kind adventure. Experience a cocktail of fun and originality while discovering the island’s underwater fauna and flora. Pilot your own underwater subscooter at 3 metres deep and enjoy a unique experience of the marine world. There is absolutely no need to be a diver or a swimmer. You will be briefed about the easy control. Choose to ride solo or with a companion, comfortably seated one behind the other. Breathe normally in the transparent dome and enjoy a panoramic view. Travelling at a leisurely 3km per hour, glide through the gentle currents and observe the marine life up close. The ride lasts for 40 minutes.
Scuba Diving
Timings: 08:30 to 11:30 or 13:30 – 16:30.
Duration: 3 hours in total with 60 mins under water
Meeting point: Grand Baie (North)
Description: Scuba diving in Mauritius, an island surrounded by coral reefs is definitely not to be missed! Immerse yourself in an exploration of the life beneath the surface and discover the magic of the underwater world. The North is endowed with superb diving spots. Depending on your skills level, dive between 10 and 35 metres with our experienced and professional diving instructor. The dive lasts for 1 hour.
Initiation dives are also available for first time divers.
Submarine
Timings: Hourly dives from 08:30 to 16:30
Duration: 2 hours in total with 40 mins underwater
Meeting point: Mont Choisy (North)
Description: Live your dream and descend to a remarkable depth of 35 metres on board of a real submarine to discover the serene marine and coral life, beneath the waves. Comfortably seated in an air conditioned cabin under atmospheric air pressure, be ready to be wept away by the splendour of the underwater world. Admire a 17th-Century sheet anchor and the timeless Star Hope, a 17th-Century shipwreck, adding to this magical moment. Safe and suitable for adventurers of all skill levels, experience the tranquillity of a safe and comfortable underwater voyage, where every moment is filled with awe and wonder. The dive lasts for 40 minutes.
