Ile aux Bénitiers / Dolphin Cruise
Discover this small uninhabited and unspoilt island just off the southwest coast of Mauritius, meet the dolphins and discover the famous Crystal Rock. Ile aux Benitiers sits in the lagoon near the majestic Le Morne Brabant and measures just 2 km by 500 m. It is the perfect place to switch-off and relax.
A ‘pristine and peaceful’ island
Whether you want just a short speed boat trip to swim near the dolphins (Option 1), a full day speed boat trip starting from Tamarin (Option 2), a full day speed boat trip starting from Tamarin but with transfers from the North (Option 3), a full day catamaran cruise starting from Black River (Option 4), a speed boat trip starting from Pointe aux Piments in the North (Option 5), or a speed catamaran trip starting from Pointe aux Piments in the North (Option 6), we have got you covered!
Option 1: Speed boat trip from Tamarin – 2 hrs swimming only
Meeting point: Tamarin (West)
Timings: 07:30 – 10:30
Description: Meet us at 07:30 in Tamarin to board our speed boat and set on an adventure to discover the dolphins in their natural habitat. You will also have the possibility of swimming near them. The trip will end by 10:30.
Pick up/ drop off: Hotel transfers to and from the meeting point are not included, but can be organised with an extra charge. Or if you prefer we can also organise some sightseeing when you finish with the boat trip and be dropped off at your hotel in the afternoon.
Option 2: Full day Speed boat trip from Tamarin
Meeting point: Tamarin (West)
Timings: 07:30 – 15:00
Description: Meet us at 07:30 in Tamarin to board our speed boat and set on an adventure to discover the dolphins in their natural habitat. You will also have the possibility of swimming near them. We then go on to visit the Crystal Rock where you will be able to swim and snorkel and even take beautiful pictures, and we subsequently head towards Bénitiers island. A BBQ lunch and drinks will be served on the island at noon. After lunch, spend some time on the beach or take a walk on the islet. The speed boat will drop you back at Tamarin at around 15:00.

Option 3: Full day Speed boat trip from Tamarin + minibus transfers from the North.
Meeting point: Grand Baie or hotels in the vicinity (North)
Timings: 06:00 – 16:30
Description: We will pick you up in the morning and drive to Tamarin where you will board our speed boat and set on an adventure to discover the dolphins in their natural habitat. You will also have the possibility of swimming near them. We then go on to visit the Crystal Rock where you will be able to swim and snorkel and even take beautiful pictures, and we subsequently head towards Bénitiers island. A BBQ lunch and drinks will be served on the island at noon. After lunch, spend some time on the beach or take a walk on the islet. The speed boat will drop you back at Tamarin at around 15:00. The minibus will then drive you back up North around 16:30.
Option 4: Catamaran trip from Black River
Meeting point: Black River (West)
Timings: 09:00 – 16:00
Description: Meet us at 09:00 on the West Coast in Black River for the embarkation. After a light breakfast, the catamaran will take you to encounter the dolphins whilst maintaining a safe distance to protect the dolphins. The catamaran will then sail towards the Crystal Rock which sits in the middle of the ocean, and from where there is a magnificent view of Le Morne Brabant. A BBQ lunch and drinks will be served on board, after which there will be a stop at Benitiers Island. The day will end around 16:00 at Black River.

Option 5: Speed boat trip from Pointe aux Piments
Meeting point: Pointe aux Piments (North)
Timings: 07:30 – 16:30
Description: Minibus pick up from Grand Baie or en route towards Pointe aux Piments (North West). Board our speed boat from Pointe aux Piments in the North for an amazing ride towards the South. As soon as we start spotting the dolphins on the way, we will stop and you will be able to swim and snorkel in the ocean. We will then continue our trip towards the Crystal Rock, before anchoring at Benitiers island. A BBQ lunch and drinks will be served on the island. Enjoy the beach, swim in the clear water lagoon and explore this little island. We will leave from Tamarin at 15:00 pm and we will be back in Pointe aux Piments by 16:00. You will then be dropped off at Grand Baie or en route by minibus.
Pick up/ drop off: We provide complementary shared minibus transfers from Grand Baie and hotels located en route from Grand Baie to Pointe aux Piments. Transfers from other hotels to and from the meeting point are not included, but can be organised with an extra charge.
Option 6: Speed catamaran trip from Pointe aux Piments
Meeting point: Pointe aux Piments (North)
Timings: 07:30 – 16:30
Description: Minibus pick up from Grand Baie or en route towards Pointe aux Piments (North West). Board our speed catamaran from Pointe aux Piments in the North and cruise down South. As soon as we start spotting dolphins on the way, we will stop and you will be able to swim and snorkel in the ocean. We will then continue our trip towards the Crystal Rock, where you will be able to swim and snorkel and also admire the magnificent Le Morne Brabant mountain. A BBQ lunch and drinks will be served onboard, after which we will stop at Benitiers island to spend the afternoon in bliss. Enjoy the beach, swim in the clear water lagoon and explore the islet. We will leave from Tamarin at 15:00 pm and we will be back in Pointe aux Piments by 16:00. You will then be dropped off at Grand Baie or anywhere else you prefer, en route, by minibus.
